Wine in Azores Design Awards · Honorable Mention · Arinto dos Açores
Each one alone had little impact but, together, the 250 small producers in Pico, united in a Wine Cooperative, put the Lajido vineyards back on the map. Among the volcanic rocks that shield them from the salt and Atlantic winds, protected by the constant clouds that shadow the volcano like guardians, the vines grow beside the ocean, with the right dose of sun exposure, giving them the singularity of the volcanic terroir that makes the wines they produce unique.
We wanted to restore the pride in their product, using the Cooperativa Vitivinícola da Ilha do Pico logo and image, expressing the island’s tradition and recognition as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Each bottle produced there will take the Pico name around the world. Together, they became a whole, a brand as strong as the mountain that dominates the landscape seen from the sky and from land, and bold, like those who live on this island in the Azores archipelago, in the middle of the Atlantic.
